Disclaimer: I don't own a portable sawmill, and I am not offering a portable sawmill service (but I'm thinking about it). This site was created to do market research. In the summer of 2009, my wife and I decided to have a few large oak trees taken down to get more light into our gardens. These trees had done most of their growing in a mature forest before our house was built, so the trunks were straight, and free of branches for 20 to 30 feet. Instead of turning these fine specimines into firewood for our wood stove, I decided that I would have them milled into lumber. So, I began searching the web for a portable sawmill service in eastern Connecticut. It took me a while to find anything, but in the process, I found a lot of sites related to portable sawmills, and their uses, and I became captivated by the subject to the point that I'm considering buying a sawmill and starting a custom sawing business. This site is an attempt to gauge the market for portable sawmill services in eastern Connecticut. There are already several such businesses in existence in the area, but my experience was that they are not easy to find on the internet. I'm hoping that with a little technical savvy, I can make a site that's easy for people doing web searches to find. By tracking the traffic the site generates, I'll get a sense of how many people are searching for this type of service. I appologize for wasting a few moments of your time with my market research.
